We have a house guest!

Flat B arrived on Friday and will be staying with us for about a month!  We have a lot planned for her and we hope she enjoys her stay with us.

WT Blog Hop for 9/27

Here are a couple of layouts I did this weekend for the blog hop.  Still working on my Japan pictures (and will be for a LOOONG time!)

I love me some green tea!

Did you know that I gave up Diet Coke over 18 months ago?  I went cold turkey!  So, my drink of choice now is either pink lemonade or cold green Japanese tea.  But, the green tea is not easy to find.  I usually have to go to the Japanese market to get it, which is over 35 miles away.

I have looked at the local markets, but all the green teas they sell usually have flavorings added to them.  I want mine plain and unsweetened.  I found one at Trader's Joe, but it was Chinese tea which has a different taste than Japanese tea.

So, one day, I was at Target, cruising the drink aisle, and I saw this!

My heart skipped a beat!  It's the same tea I buy at the Japanese market, same bottle, same company but with an Americanized label!  I was so happy and I quickly grabbed the last two bottles on the shelf!  Hooray!  I hope it is good news that there were only two bottles left.  That must mean I am not the only one that likes this stuff! LOL!

I **heart** Target! :)

ZOZO the Magic Queen

I saw the coolest calendar at Borders the other day, and I had to buy it!  Now, I am one of those who waits until calendars go on sale for 50% off, so for me to buy this calendar now must mean I really like it! ;)

It is by an artist who goes by the name Zozo The Magic Queen.  If you like the current "Marie" art trend, I think you'll like this.

She's HERE!!

My newest Blythe doll!!

I love Blythe dolls and when I saw this one, I knew I had to get her!  I was hoping to pick her up in Japan, but she wasn't being released until after I had already come home, so I had to mail order her.  And she arrived today!!

She is my first Blythe doll that I have actually taken out of the box!!  Here she is with her three sisters who are not allowed to come out and play!

And here she is in a kimono I had picked up in Japan.

Here are a few things I did this weekend for the WT Blog Hop:

I went cropping up north on Saturday with a couple of friends.  13 hours of cropping, talking and eating fun!  I started working on my Japan album, so maybe I'll get it done before 2020! LOL!

I hope everyone had a good Labor Day weekend!  It was nice to be off from work for 4 days (I also took Friday off).  But somehow, no matter how many days off you take, it's never enough!

New Magazines and Books

It's been awhile since I've updated my book listing.  There are a lot of books out there that I want.  I am a bookaholic!

The newest issue of Art Journaling by Stampington is out!

The first issue sold out quickly, so if you want this one you better hurry on down to your local book/magazine shop.  It is filled with a lot of great examples and some how-tos. 

I haven't bought too many books lately, although my wish list on Amazon is long.  My two latest books are how-to books, The Creative Edge by Mary Todd Beam and Creative Paint Workshop by Ann Baldwin.  I've admired Ann Baldwin's work for a long time.

Books that I'll probably buy next are:

Stitch Alchemy

Image Transfer Workshop, even though I probably have enough books on this subject.  I thumbed through this at B&N and really liked the examples inside the book.

Layered, Tattered and Stitched by Ruth Rae.  Ruth is another artist I have admired from afar, so I am anxiously awaiting for the release of her book.

And speaking of books ... I am now hooked on the Sookie Stackhouse series!  It is like the grown up version of Twilight. :)  I even bought the first season of True Blood.  I like these books so much better than Twilight (sorry Twilight fans).  And it doesn't hurt that the actors on True Blood are nice to look at! :)  I am reading the Twilight Series too however.  I need to keep up-to-date on pop culture! LOL!

Looking forward to the long weekend coming up!  On Saturday I am going up north to crop all-day with a couple of friends.  Then Sunday and Monday ... just kick back and relax!  Hopefully it'll cool down a little bit this weekend.

A layout and a card

It so HOT here!  While I was in Japan, I couldn't wait to come back home to the cooler, arid weather.  Instead, I come home to a dang heat wave!  Temps have been in the 90's and 100's since Wednesday.  UGH!  Someone said I brought the heat back from Japan with me.  Well, if that is true, at least I was considerate and didn't bring the humidity with me also! :)

And how about a shout out to the Chula Vista Little League team!  They are in the World Championship game tomorrow!!  Woo  Hoo!!  I admit it, I am partial to any team that is either from So. Cal. or from Hawaii.

I went to a crop today.  It was nice to see people I hadn't seen in awhile.  Between the eating and talking, I actually managed to get one layout finished!

Here is the layout I made today using the August mini-kit from Color Me Miki. The picture was taken in Japan.  This was a store were everything was made from scrap metal parts.  The letters used on the layout are metallic and are from Prima.
